How to donate used books, cds, dvds and videos to support Washington Trails Association.

Donate books
Donate books, CDs, and DVDs to support trails. By Debbie Feinman.

If you have useful-but-unneeded books, CDs, DVDs or recent software, you can put them to work for a great cause by donating them to Washington Trails Association.  Washington Trails partners with EcoEncore to turn your unwanted books and media into cash for the environment.

Eco Encore raises funds for environmental organizations in the Pacific Northwest through the online resale of books, CDs, DVDs and recent software donated by individuals and institutions across the country, while increasing awareness of reuse as a vital practice for resource conservation.

Here are the items that make great EcoEncore donations:

  • CDs:  Any full retail version (not copies). No scratches, preferably with original liner notes.
  • DVDs:  Any full retail version (not copies). No scratches, preferably in original case.
  • Recent Software and Video Games:  Full retail versions on CD with a license, less than 2 years old.
  • Books:  all should be in excellent condition for resale. No ripped pages, excessive highlighting, warped or separated binding, mold/mildew/stains. Normal wear and tear is just fine; covers and pages may be worn at the edges. Best-selling categories include art, philosophy, spirituality/religion, any academic texts less than 5 years old, professional reference materials (i.e. medical, law, engineering, software development) and newer cookbooks. Uncommon titles tend to have the highest resale value!

Your donation may be dropped off at the WTA office during regular business hours or mailed directly to EcoEncore.  Please label your donation as one that should go to the benefit of Washington Trails Association.  For more details on how to donate, visit www.ecoencore.org or call the WTA office at (206) 625-1367.
